Exodus has proven itself to be one of the currently most anticipated games, with the slow reveal of its premise and mechanics building up the vision of a polished product in the heads of fans. Announced toward the end of 2023, the game promises to be grand space adventure with the fate of humanity on the line. Now, the game has put out its “First Look” gameplay trailer. While not the only glimpse at gameplay seen since the reveal, it does offer gamers the longest stretches of Exodus gameplay seen so far.
The trailer opens on the game’s main character, the Traveler, the last hope for humanity and the player character. He is caught in the middle of combat and surrounded by allies. The combat consists of ducking behind crates and taking shots at the enemy soldiers and drones. The enemies, revealed on the official game site to be the hostile alien Celestials, are comprised of multiple types with varied attacks. After the battle, some of the platform traversal is shown off as the Traveler zips and swings between platforms with a wrist launcher. He also has to carefully walk across a beam over a planet below, showing off the game’s strong visuals.
The second half of the trailer confirms what the exploration aspect of Exodus will look like. After a platforming section, the Traveler comes across a socket in the wall. The socket opens up to reveal a new area, the Sankhara Glyph Shrine. The trailer ends there, leaving fans to wonder what the ominous room could lead to.
New footage of highly anticipated games oftentimes changes the way that game is perceived. As Exodus steps further out of the obscure, fans can look forward to learning more about the Traveler and his mission. Exodus is set to release early in 2027.
