According to Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Take-Two Interactive, Red Dead Redemption 2 has no chance of being delayed again. The executive stated that he is confident that the game will definitely meet its Fall release date. “Hand on heart,” he stated when asked about the matter, but when asked a second time, he said, “When I said hand on heart, it’s over 1,000 people at Rockstar Games with their hands on their hearts,” paying homage to the developers at Rockstar currently at work on the title.
The highly anticipated sequel has had quite a few setbacks originally slated for a release last year, but Zelnick’s words should reassure many fans after they received the troubling news earlier this year that the game’s release had been pushed from its intended Spring 2018 release window. However, even when the news of the last delay first broke, Zelnick stated that he was quite confident that the game would not receive any other delays.
The entire focus of this organization is on delivering the highest quality entertainment experiences of any kind. More often than not, we feel proud that we’re able to do that. All of our labels are focused on releasing a title when they reach that apex of effort and perfection. And in this instance, Rockstar Games felt more polish was required, and naturally we are in favor of that decision to delay Red Dead Redemption 2. The date of October 26 is set, and I am confident that will be the release date. We are incredibly excited about it.
In other news, Rockstar plans to announce more news on special editions and “more” for the game sometime next month. This may mean we can expect some new information about the western around E3 2018. As for now, Read Dead Redemption 2 is still slated to release on October 26 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
