Evil Within Director Wants A Nintendo Switch Port Of The Sequel

Shinji Mikami the producer of The Evil Within 2 who also oversaw the original title as well as the Resident Evil series has stated that he is interested in seeing the horror game come to the Nintendo Switch. As for right now The Evil Within 2 is slated to release next month on October 13 for the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

During an interview Mikami didn’t exactly confirm anything as of yet, but he did comment on the subject “I think a Switch version would be interesting. I’d like to try it if I had the chance.” Although he did admit that he has had an issue with finding a Switch of his own and has had to borrow the console from one of his staff members to play it.

Bethesda, the publisher for The Evil Within 2, is in the process of adapting Wolfenstein II: The New Colosus, Doom, and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim to the Switch as well. Mikami also commented on the developement process on the game in the interview, stating that the total period for the game was “quite a bit shorter” than that of the the original game. Although, he also says that this is common among sequels and adds, “It always takes more time to make the first game in a series, compared to subsequent games.”

Lastly Mikami gave some insight on the ever growing costs for game development in regards to large projects and titles. While acknowledging that this also isn’t a new trend, he states “It’s hard to make an original game now. The budgets are very big and the stakes are higher than they used to be.”
