Everything Shown Off in Nintendo’s 4/17 Indie World: SteamWorld Heist II, Yars Rising, Europa, Animal Well, & More

Nintendo held an Indie World Showcase on April 17 that showed off a variety of indie titles coming to the Nintendo Switch this year. Here’s everything that was featured.

Little Kitty, Big City

Announced in last April’s Indie World, Double Dagger Studio’s Little Kitty, Big City is an exploration-based adventure game where players control a cat who is lost in a city. Along the way, you can complete sidequests for other animals, collect Cat-chievements by performing normal cat actions, collect over 40 different hats to style your cat, and perform emotes. It launches for the Nintendo Switch on May 9, with preorders available today.

Yars Rising

A reboot of 1982’s Yars’ Revenge, this 2D sci-fi action adventure game from WayForward and Atari has players controlling Yar to run, jump, hack, and blast to unravel a conspiracy surrounding a corporate empire. It launches for the Nintendo Switch later this year.

Refind Self: The Personality Test Game

Previously available on PC and mobile devices from developers PLAYISM and Lizardry, this exploration-based adventure has players control an android whose creator has passed away. Players make choices throughout the game that will determine one of 23 personality types that they receive at the end of the game, such as a proactive Leader, wise Sage, or strong Samurai. It releases as a timed console exclusive for Nintendo Switch this summer.

Sticky Business

Developer Spellgarden Games was inspired by small businesses online to create Sticky Business, a cozy sim that has players combining over 400 elements and effects to design artistic stickers. Customers will ask for different stickers, and completing quests will unlock stories about their lives. Plan With Me paid DLC will also be available, which contains 10 additional customers’ stories and over 100 more sticker elements. The game and its DLC launches later today as a timed console exclusive for the Nintendo Switch.

ANTONBLAST

From developer Summitsphere, ANTONBLAST is an action platformer where players control Dynamite Anton or Dynamite Annie to blast through levels and retrieve spirits stolen by the Devil. At the end of each level, a detonator begins and players must run back to the start in time. It releases as a timed console exclusive on the Nintendo Switch Nov. 12, with a demo available later today.

Valley Peaks

From Those Awesome Guys and Tub Club, Valley Peaks is a first-person adventure game about climbing mountains. Players can accept sidequests, relax with minigames, and obtain equipment to make climbing easier. It releases for Nintendo Switch later this year.

Lorelei and the Laser Eyes

From Annapurna Interactive and Simogo, Lorelei and the Laser Eyes is a non-linear mystery puzzle game where players control a woman exploring an old hotel in central Europe. The game releases May 16 on the Nintendo Switch.

Europa

Set on Jupiter’s moon, this action-adventure game has players exploring a world of lakes, meadows, mountains, and a fallen civilization. Creator Helder Pinto said that he wanted the game to be a meditative experience and tell a story through gameplay that puts the player in a flow state. It releases for the Nintendo Switch later this year, with a demo available today.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Splintered Fate

From Super Evil Megacorp, this isometric roguelike has players taking control of Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, or Raphael to travel through portals and rescue Splinter from the Foot Clan. The turtles gain power and abilities during each run which reset after a loss, with permanent upgrades available in the sewer home using in-game currency. Players can go it solo or play with up to three others through online co-op, which can be dropped in or out at any time. The game launches as a timed console exclusive for Nintendo Switch this July.

Cat Quest III

An action RPG from the The Gentlebros, Cats Quest III has players travel by land and sea to find the mythical North Star. Two-player local co-op is available to play with a friend. The game releases August 8 for the Nintendo Switch, with preorders and a demo available later today.

A puzzle game about handmade embroidery from Lykke studios, stitch. has players create images by stitching together groups of cells without any overlapping in patterns called Hoops. The Nintendo Switch version will have over 180 Hoops, with more on the way. After completing a Hoop, they can be recolored. Weekly Hoops will be inspired by real life events, and will become permanently available after completion. stitch. will release later today as a Nintendo Switch console exclusive.

BZZZT

This “run-jump-dash” platformer from KO.DLL and CINEMAX has players control a tiny robot through a pixel-art world to upgrade skills and beat challenging levels. It releases for the Nintendo Switch this summer.

SCHiM

Players jump between shadows in this 3D platformer from Extra Nice that uses light, shadow, and animation to create a unique world. It releases July 18 for the Nintendo Switch.

ANIMAL WELL

In this Metroidvania from BigMode and Shared Memory, players control a blob to explore an animal-filled labyrinth. It releases May 9 for the Nintendo Switch.

Duck Detective: The Secret Salami

From Happy Broccoli Games, Duck Detective is what it sounds like. Players conduct interviews and inspect evidence to crack the case in this narrative mystery game.

Another Crab’s Treasure

A soulslike from Aggro Crab in which players take control of a hermit crab who has lost his shell, Another Crab’s Treasure allow players to collect over 60 makeshift shells, each with unique abilities. It will release on the Nintendo Switch April 26, with preorders available now.

SteamWorld Heist II

A sequel to 2015’s 2D turn-based tactics shooter, Thunderful’s SteamWorld Heist II has players explore the open see with tactical turn-based combat and real time naval combat. SteamBots that you meet on the journey can be recruited as allies. A new job system and over 150 weapons, utility items, and ship equipment pieces allow for a fully customizable team. The game releases August 8 for the Nintendo Switch.
