Escape Doodland Is An Indie Action-Adventure About Outrunning A Foul Beast

Escape Doodland is an upcoming platformer all about running as fast as you can. Death and destruction have surrounded your once buoyant town, and now, merciless monsters are tracking your every move.

The developers over at appSide Down make note that their gameplay is extremely demanding and features an auto-running mechanic. Players are on a continuous path, and if you ever to stop moving, the monster that is trailing close behind you will decimate you outright. With this kind of pressure, thinking on your feet is paramount, and making sure you’re one step ahead of your environment is the key to your success.

The unique world of Doodland was created on a piece of paper, and it makes use of this creative effect to emulate a world where anything can happen. Your town has been invaded by Omnous, a sinister creature that aims to feast on humans. As you traverse Doodland, you’ll notice that it contains various landscapes that each share a unique atmosphere. The one attribute they’ll all have in common comes down to the demanding obstacles standing in your way.

The people of Doodland are called Doodlers, and you’ll be able to choose from eight to play as. No two Doodlers are the same, but each comes with one shared feature: digestive problems. You’ve probably guessed it folks; farting will be a primary mechanic. Think the Omnous is trailing you a little too closely? No worries, because one foul fart will propel you forward and provide the distance you need to remain safe.

If you’re up for some multiplayer, you’ll be able to fart your way to victory with your friends as well. The catch here is that even though you’re all in a shared map, only one will be able to survive against Omnous, so make sure your allegiances aren’t too strong.

Doodland is set to release on Steam for PC sometime this year, and it is currently being funded through Kickstarter. If this seems interesting to you, make sure to check out the trailer below.
