After four years, a defunct MOBA returns to the spotlight under a new name. Epic’s Paragon was no match to the amount of fame Fortnite gained in its two years post-beta. In 2018 it was officially closed as Epic focused its efforts on Fortnite and soon after released the assets of Paragon on the Unreal Marketplace. However, after four years and a trademark agreement with Epic, Paragon has returned now developed by the South Korean game studio Netmarble as the newly named Paragon: The Overprime.
As pointed out by PC Gamer, Paragon: The Overprime is a free-to-play action-focused live service MOBA featuring all new characters and maps. Players can choose one out of an ever-expanding roster of heroes and use their skills to destroy enemy bases and claim them as their own. Strategize with other players in third person by customizing various and incorporating them towards your team’s victory.
The game is currently in an open beta till November 21st and it’s still not too late to join. To join the open-beta players will have to create a post on a social media platform post with the Final Test event banner and poster images along with a Steam or Epic Games Store URL and a personal comment about how excited you are for the Final Test. Following that, take a screenshot of the post and share it on the [when-is-the-final-test-event] channel on the official Discord along with your Steam or Epic Games Account ID.
Even with the open beta in full swing, it’s still unknown when the final game will release. What we do know is that it will be playable through Steam and unsurprisingly the Epic Game store. How much this new version will resemble its previous incarnation is still a mystery. Nevertheless, Netmarble seems to be keen on keeping the high-quality graphics and gameplay it was known for before its unfortunate shutdown. Hopefully when the current beta test is at its end Paragon: The Overprime will receive the comeback that it rightly deserves.
