Epic has released a statement that the three Infinity Blade games are no longer available for purchase as of December 10, 2018. The iOS-exclusive franchise will also have all in-app purchases removed as well. The games will still be playable to those who own the games, and for the foreseeable future, the series can be downloaded to their devices.
The reason for the removal of the Infinity Blade series is that other projects such as Spyjinx have been shifted to be Epic Games’ main focus. Spyjinx is a collaboration with J.J. Abrams and Chair Entertainment, who worked on the Infinity Blade series. “It has become increasingly difficult for our team to support the Infinity Blade series at a level that meets our standards,” Donald Mustard, the Global Creative Director of Chair, said. “The Infinity Blade series will always hold a special place for me personally and for Epic as a whole. It’s always bittersweet to say goodbye, but we are excited for Spyjinx and what the future holds!”
Epic Games still plans to support Infinity Blade III with Clash Mobs and other surprises. The company tells fans to check in frequently to the game for special items. As thanks to the fans, Epic Games has made the Infinity Blade Stickers app available to download for free as well. The company ends its statement with a tease that Infinity Blade could be popping up in places that you wouldn’t expect such as Fortnite, which just added the iconic weapon to the game.
The Infinity Blade weapon is extremely powerful. It will give you double health and shields when obtained. Once you get a kill, you will be awarded 50 health and can move faster than other players in the match. Unlike most weapons in Fortnite, there is only one Infinity Blade, which is located at the Polar Peak area of the map.
