The first of the 12 free titles that Epic is giving away is Into the Breach, an isometric turn based strategy game where you control soldiers that use giant mechs to battle an invading army of monsters called the Vek. The game was developed by Subset Games, who are also known for their popular puzzle based title FTL: Faster Than Light. Into the Breach was highly acclaimed, and was nominated for many awards in 2018. If this is the first of 12 games that Epic is serving up for free, then that’s a very good sign of things to come.
As for the holiday sale itself, it’s a who’s who of big named titles from 2019 as well as other big hits from previous years mixed with some indie titles. Some of the AAA games on sale include Borderlands 3 for $38.99, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order for $49.79, Red Dead Redemption 2 for $47.99, Control for $40.19, and The Outer Worlds for $44.99. Some of the other games on sale are Rune II for $22.49, Trials Rising for $9.99, Enter the Gungeon for $7.49, The Messenger for $11.99, and Transistor for $3.99. Also a special mention for Alan Wake which is on sale for just $4.49. You can check out the full list of games on sale here.
The $10 discount, dubbed the Epic Coupon, is also running a promotion in and of itself. If you use the coupon on “eligible games” then you’ll receive another $10 coupon to use on anything in the store. In the fine print on the coupon, it states that the “eligible games” are titles that are at least $14.99 or more. Basically, if the game you’re planning to buy is $14.99 or higher, then you’ll be able to use the $10 discount. The coupon cannot be applied to pre orders, DLC, season passes, or in-game purchases.
As we said earlier, the Epic Games Store 12 Days of Free Games starts today and will go all the way until January 1, 2020. Each free game will only be available for 24 hours, so if you want to claim all of them then be sure to check the store for the next 12 days. The holiday sale will also end on January 1, 2020.
