Epic Games has officially launched the Epic Games Store on Android devices worldwide and on iOS in the EU due to the Digital Markets Act (DMA). Fortnite, Rocket League Sideswipe, and for the first time ever, Fall Guys is available on mobile and is free to download on the Epic Games Store. Like Fortnite, Fall Guys on mobile is the full Fall Guys experience. Players can play with anyone, anywhere, with crossplay across PC, console, and mobile, complete with cross-progression.
“This is just the beginning,” Epic Games said in the press release. “Our goal is to make the Epic Games Store the leading multiplatform game store, open to all app and game developers. We have an ambitious roadmap that will bring new features and incredible games to the Epic Games Store at a later date, all benefiting from our 88%/12% rev share and established Epic Games Store programs like Epic First Run, Now On Epic, Epic Rewards, and the free games.”
“The tide is turning, and the mobile ecosystem is finally opening up to competition. We are grateful to the European Commission for making it possible to launch the Epic Games Store and offer our games to iOS users in the European Union,” CEO Tim Sweeny wrote in a press release. “Now, European iOS users and all Android users can access our store and games, as they’ve always been able to do on open platforms like PC and Mac. The fight is far from over, but this is tangible progress for developers and consumers who can begin to benefit from competition and choice.”
New rewards will be available in all three games to celebrate the moment. In-game challenges will be in each game that will reward players with cosmetics that include a new Fortnite outfit and matching back bling, pickaxe, and wrap; a brand new Fall Guys bean costume; a Fall Guys-themed pickaxe usable in Fortnite; and a gold vehicle trim that can be used immediately in Fortnite and Rocket League Sideswipe, and soon in Rocket League. The Quests and challenges will be visible on all platforms but can only be completed in-game on a mobile device.
