Epic Games Announces Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 Release Date

Just this morning, Fortnite announced an update on when Chapter 2 Season 2 will be released along with update 11.50. According to epicgames.com, the second season of the second chapter of Fortnite will not be released until Thursday, February 20th. While not much has been revealed about the second chapter, the release date announcement included a brief teaser for gamers with some redacted information “Chapter 2 – Season 2 will feature[ redacted] with multiple [redacted]. We can’t brief you on all of next Season’s secrets just yet…” Although nothing more has been released regarding the new season, it is likely that more information will be revealed soon.

With a new season comes a new update.  The 11.50 will be released in early February and will also include a transition from the game’s original engine to Unreal Engine’s Chaos physics system. Epic Games have also explained that there may be ” some bumps” so the company is also testing the engine using small groups of players. It also appears that Epic Games is also letting some players try out the new engine before they release it in February. The company stated that “At launch, the goal is to ensure that Fortnite still feels like Fortnite. Along the way there will be some bumps, so we’re starting tests with a small group of players. We’ll also closely monitor feedback and make improvements over time.”

Beyond the new season and the engine transition, the announcement also stated that before Chapter 1 Season 1 is over, the company intends to add more Overtime Challenges as well as a two-week event. No other details were revealed regarding these challenges and events but they hinted that players would be given the details on their social channels soon.

Fortnite Chapter 2 is available now for PC, Xbox One, PS4, Mac, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android.
