Recently, Epic Games announced their purchase of ArtStation which is a popular site for digital artists to not only share their work and art but also to find inspiration and improve their artistic ability. Since the company’s founding in 2014, the business deal came as a result of a previous partnership and mutual support between the two companies. During the beginning of the pandemic, Epic Games supported ArtStation with a Megagrant which ensured a space for creators to continue their work. The ArtStation team dedicated their platform to help digital artists, and they believe the Epic Games shares this passion as well.
ArtStation will continue to work independently with its owner now being Epic Games. They ensured members of the art sharing platform will continue to have access to all of the features of the company as well as more benefits such as cheaper member rates and hopefully more earnings. Additionally, users will be able to continue their membership as well as have free access to ArtStation Learning for the rest of the year. ArtStation Learning is a streaming service for artists where they can watch lessons and videos from professionals. This service allows artists to improve on their own time and still receive quality instructions or discussions. They also shared their intent to hire more individuals to the team to provide even more support and opportunity for creators.
Through our collaboration, we witnessed Epic’s deep respect for the ArtStation community and that we shared the same mission to empower creators. It became clear that by joining forces, we would have a much bigger impact.
Both companies are hopeful about the acquisition, and hopefully, their partnership will ensure that ArtStation is and always will be a space and platform for digital artists to learn, grow, create, and inspire.
