Warhammer Fantasy fans everywhere likely cried out in terror days ago as it was practically confirmed that the End Times, or at least content and characters from End Times, are coming to Total War: Warhammer 3. In the Dev Chat on the future of Total War Creative Assembly’s creative team sat down and went over all their future plans for the dark world of Warhammer Fantasy and what sort of plans they have for it moving forward.
The most notable things covered are, of course, the three new legendary lords coming for the Khorne, Greenskin, and Ogre factions with Skulltaker and Gorbad Ironclaw taking front and center stage as Khorne and the Greenskins’ legendary lords for the update respectively. Alongside the lords there will be a massive overhaul coming for Bretonnia (Thank The Lady). As stated, the End Times are coming (back) to Total War, likely in the form of a reworked Chaos Invasion, to give players that true feeling of fighting against the worst event in Fantasy history (and one of the worst events in Games Workshop history, funnily enough).
Also featured is Golfag Maneater, the ogre legendary lord with a mercenary faction and a unique mechanic in the campaign where he takes his army and works for other factions (hence the mercenary bit).
We highly encourage watching the video yourself, as there are a lot of interesting bits discussed on the table. The launch of Total War: Warhammer 3 was notably a bit rough, but in the years since the release of the game in 2022 the game has been smoothed out considerably from its launch state. The future is looking bright, or dark rather since it is the End Times, but hopefully the franchise of Total War: Warhammer ends a lot brighter among the players than the tabletop did.
