Elland: The Crystal Wars, Originally A Dune-Related Game For Game Boy Advance, Kickstarter Campaign Launches Under A New Name

The Retro Room Games, an independent game developer has launched the Kickstarter campaign for Elland: The Crystal Wars, an unreleased first-person flying shooter for Game Boy Advance. The game originally used the Dune IP and was known as Dune: Ornithopter Assault. It was supposed to release in the early 2000s. Now, the game is getting a physical release including the cartridge, box, and instruction booklet.

Dune: Ornithopter Assault was originally developed by Soft Brigade back in 2001. In Summer 2002, the game was canceled. The game was finished (all missions are completable) before submission to Nintendo. Due to publisher Cryo Interactive’s financial difficulties, the game was shelved. In Dune: Ornithopter Assault, players talk on the role of a specialist in piloting and fighting ornithopters trained by Gurney Alleck, the most efficient and honored officer of the House of Atreides. Players must surpass all of their flying skills in an all-out war for the spice to survive the fall of the House of Atreides and help Paul and the Fremen in their fight for Arrakis.

The new version, Elland: The Crystal Wars, will have slightly new characters and dialogues to make it different from the original Dune IP. In Elland: The Crystal Wars, players must defeat the aggressive Trafford, who seized the resources of a harsh desert world and used them for evil purposes. The game takes on adventure-packed missions to defeat Trafford. Players can throw high damage bombs, long-range missiles, and unlimited ammo of Grays Cannon to defeat the enemy.

As of now, the Kickstarter has garnered $6,297 of its $7,563 goal. There are 58 days to go.
