Yesterday Bandi-Namco released a short directed by Eli Roth, directer of Hostel and Cabin Fever, set in the Dark Souls universe. The short is called The Witches and is about a knight searching a ruined castle for something when he is confronted by these three witches, the situation only gets worse for him from there.
The short blends Roth’s style of film making with the oppressive atmosphere of the Dark Souls universe. Namco also released a behind the scenes feature for the short.
In the video Roth talks about his love of Dark Souls and how he always wanted to do something in the medieval fantasy setting. So when he was offered the chance to work with Namco on the project, he jumped at the chance.
I’ve always loved medieval history. I’ve always wanted to do something in that space, with knights and fire. Something that was dark, that combined magic and something of the classic horror storytelling elements.
Dark Souls 3 is already out in Japan with a worldwide release date on April 12th for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. However some fans have been able to get access to the game before the game’s official release.
