A new update on Project Rene has confirmed a mobile launch for Sims 5. The team behind Sims 5, Maxis Studios, have consistently been keeping tabs with the community in regard to the newest installment of Sims.
Electronic Arts gave some insight about Maxis Studios allowing fans to be more actively involved in the development of Project Rene. In October of this year, active early testing occurred with a version of Sims 5 where fans evaluated customization and interior design. Furthermore, players reported any bugs that happened during testing, so Maxis Studios could address them for future versions.
The feedback given by fans proved to be highly valuable as it brought about questions not previously mentioned. The team states how this step in development was a long, involved process, but was very fruitful. The initial was conducted in both mobile and personal computer platforms, however, they were more focused on the former. A majority of the Sims community highly anticipated the mobile release of Project Rene, Maxis Studio had more discussion and concern regarding that particular launch of the game.
“Project Rene supports both mobile and PC experiences which dramatically expands the complexity of testing. We need to support a wide variety of experiences: simulation, socialization, creative tools for furniture and interior design, creative tools for clothing and characters plus new social experiences,” stated Maxis Game Director Grant Rodiek.
However, Maxis Studio highlighted many challenges posed when considering the development of a highly customizable Sims game. There are many variables included that could disturb the system and make Project Rene difficult to cultivate. Nevertheless, the information from playtesting will aid in addressing most of these challenges as effectively as possible. In fact, Maxis Studio plans to conduct future community-based tests to get more players actively involved in the development of Project Rene and to address any further issues down the road.
In Episode Two of “Behind The Sims”, Maxis Studios provided more insight into the early stages of Project Rene. The short video showcased the lighting, animation, and hairstyles to come in the future Sims game. In addition, several simple prototypes of Sims 5 showed how the Sims will live inside their homes and act outside in the neighborhood.
Since Project Rene is still in its early development, it will be some time before an official launch is announced. Meanwhile, the development of the game seems to be proceeding smoothly, so the game has great potential in being entertaining as previous titles.
