Bethesda took to Reddit to update the community on the future for Elder Scrolls Legends, a free to play card game much like Hearthstone but set in the Elder Scrolls universe. Unfortunately, Bethesda was not the bearer of good news and announced that the road map for Legends will be put on pause for the foreseeable future. This decision is not going to affect the Asia specific release of Legends and a possible success of that release will inform Bethesda is Legends will be large enough to warrant resuming development of new content.
New expansions and other future content, however, are no longer under active development. We will continue to provide ongoing maintenance support.
Bethesda also promised to continue running community events and giving monthly reward cards. Currently Legends is still free to download and play both single player and the multiplayer modes. As a reward to the community Bethesda is giving away free Tamriel Collection card pack, which features many in game boosts, when they login again.
While Legends is not completely abandoned, the game is struggling against Hearthstone. Steam charts show Legends only averages ~650 players daily and struggles to peak over a thousand in a given month, while Hearthstone is self reported to have over a 100 million players. The only advantage that Legends has over the juggernaut of Hearthstone is that Legends is available on more platforms, being available on PC, Android, iOS and Xbox One and PlayStation 5, while Hearthstone is only on PC, iOS and Android.
This recent Reddit announcement has put the future of Legends in question, a question that will hopefully be answered when the game finally sees it Asia release. Notably Legends is not the only card game that is seeing a halt in development, CD Projekt Red as stopped development of new content for Gwent, but that is only for the console version of the game.
