EA & The Development Teams Behind Battlefield Officially Introduce Battlefield Studios, Announce Battlefield Labs

Following the poor launch of Battlefield 2042, EA announced that they would be expanding the franchise with the formation of a Battlefield universe that included restructuring of some of its development teams to help with the creation of new games and offerings within the series. With this change, Vince Zampella became the official boss of the franchise. Battlefield has seemingly gone quiet since other than providing updates to Battlefield 2042. However, today, the teams, which formerly make up the newly announced Battlefield Studios, have shared the first look and vision for the future of the series which begins with Battlefield Labs.

Battlefield Studios is comprised of DICE, Criterion, Ripple Effect and Motive. Each Studio focuses of different areas of the overall Battlefield experience. DICE is focused on the multiplayer component. Motive is primarily focused on single-player mission content and multiplayer maps. Criterion is also focused on single-player. Ripple Effect is working on a something new for Battlefield.

Battlefield Labs is the most ambitious community testing program in the franchise’s history where players can “provide feedback, validate the future of Battlefield, and have a direct and lasting impact on the next generation of Battlefield games. “Our collective Battlefield Studios teams have been hard at work and are now entering a critical phase of our development cycle, where your feedback is crucial in helping us know what to prioritize, improve, and refine before release,” The Battlefield Team said.

I’ve been playing Battlefield long before I joined the team,” says Vince Zampella, Head of Respawn & Group GM for EA Studios Organization. “This game has so much potential. To find that potential, with us being pre-alpha, now is the time to test the experiences our teams have been building for our upcoming launch. Battlefield Labs empowers our teams to do that.”

Battlefield Labs will give the Battlefield Team a place to test concepts and experiences that they’re excited about with the community. Almost everything will be tested but not everything that will be seen will be complete. The Battlefield Team says that the feedback will supercharge the development of the next game as they strive to hit the perfect note between form, function, and feel.

The Battlefield Team said “this is an unprecendented moment for Battlefield. We will start by testing the pillars of play, like core combat and destruction. Then transition to balance and feedback for our weapons, vehicles and gadgets, ultimately leading to where all these pieces come together in our maps, modes, and squad play. And yes, we will be testing Conquest and Breakthrough, the heart and soul of our all-out warfare experience, but BF Labs will also be a place to explore new ideas and fine-tune and improve Battlefield pillars like our class system (Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon) to create deeper more strategic play.”

Anyone interested in being a part of Battlefield Labs can sign up now. More information can be found on the official website.
