EA and DICE’s upcoming Battlefield 2042 is already seeing a lot of anticipation. The game only has a couple of months wait time before it launches on October 22, and we’ve already seen plenty of new features and updates. Now, we’re all in for something very different, a short live-action film. EA has officially announced that they will unveil a short film titled Exodus, which will premiere on August 12 and will give a bit of an explanation for the background of the title, as well as the world within it.
The standalone short film Exodus premieres August 12, 8am PDT / 5pm CEST.

According to DICE, the film will detail the events that eventually cause a massive global war. Considering the insane amount of warfare and weather disasters that do occur in the game, it was more than likely something Earth-shattering that leads to the continuous destruction. It is also unknown if this film will be a live-action one or use in-game cinematics to tell the story. This is also very intriguing as Battlefield 2042 has no story mode, making this short film the only known plot-related aspect for the title.
As we already mentioned, Battlefield 2042 already shaping up to be one of the biggest games of the year. EA and DICE decided to wait more than two years to deliver another entry in the franchise, as opposed to the annual release similarly to Call of Duty. Now we won’t have to wait very long to see if this extra wait was worth it. The Exodus film will premiere on August 12 and can be viewed on their official YouTube channel here.
Battlefield 2042 will officially launch on October 22, 2021, for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/Series S, and PC.
