In a recent tweet, EA has released its 2018 roadmap for Star Wars Battlefront 2, giving player a general idea of what content will be coming to the game in coming months. To start things off, Battlefront 2 just got a hefty July update (further detailed in the roadmap). The Hero Starfighters multiplayer mode has just arrived, a new four vs. four PvP mode. “Here, players will spawn as one of the available Hero Starfighters on their respective sides,” wrote Battlefront 2 developer DICE in a post. “If taken out, you’ll re-enter the game as a normal fighter, bomber, or interceptor. To win the game, your team of four needs to take out all enemy Hero Starfighters.”
July is also bringing a number of game improvements; Jedi and Sith hero characters will be able to turn their lightsabers on and off via player command, and using it to block blaster bolts will now consume stamina. In addition, hero showdowns have gotten several quality-of-life improvements, and players can now swap appearances pre-round. Check out the full July update patch notes here.

In August, Star Wars Battlefront 2 will be getting changes to clone appearances, and new emotes and victory poses are being added. Following that in the fall, both Obi Wan Kenobi and General Grievous are set to arrive as playable heroes. A new large-scale multiplayer mode and squad system will both be delivered in the fall as well. When winter rolls around, another two heroes—Anakin Skywalker and Count Dooku—will be released. Battlefront 2‘s winter updates will also include a new location, the Geonosis multiplayer map.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 released last November for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
