Sony had one of its most spectacular E3’s in years, partly because of Microsoft dropping the ball, but moreso because of an incredible wealth of PS4 exclusives. Among those was an unprecedented offering from Square Enix, both the long rumoured Kingdom Hearts 3 and highly anticipated Final Fantasy 15:
Final Fantasy 15, formerly known as Final Fantasy Versus, is based in a fantasy world with real world influences and shifts the series’ gameplay towards action-RPG. Combat is said to be directly influenced by the critically acclaimed Kingdom Hearts series and has some Bayonetta style platforming thrown in. The game has been in production for many years, first on the PS3 and now on Sony’s next gen console, and represents a chance for the series to redeem itself after the travesty of Final Fantasy 13 and its spin-offs.
Kingdom Hearts 3 will continue the story of Sora as he wages war on the darkness across a slew of Disney and Final Fantasy inspired worlds. This title in particular has fans frothing at the mouth light of Disney’s current ownership of Lucasfilm, Pixar, and Marvel. Here’s hoping Tony Stark helps fix the Millenium Falcon so Buzz and Woody can find their way home.
