E3 2021 continues, this time with the Indie Showcase. A long standing tradition for the event, it highlights upcoming titles from smaller developers that aren’t regularly part of the AAA rotation spot, but still just as important to the gaming community. The 30 minute presentation gave us a glimpse of what to come, and we’ll feature each of them right here. This is what we saw at the E3 2021 Indie Showcase.
Lifeslide is a stunning fully 3D title where you play as a literal paper airplane folded an all. You’ll control the plane as you fly your way throughought beautiful and dangerous terrain, collecting items along the way. There are no words or and dialogue, but the imagery and scenery speaks for itself. Lifeslide will officially launch on August 6 for PC through Steam.
Publisher Hooded Horse had a special three game showcase, each of which specialize in the RTS/Civilization style of genre. Falling Frontier has you defending your space port from rival factions. Alliance of the Sacred Suns has you taking on the role of a young emperor or empress as you build your space empire from the ground up. Terra Invicta is about preparing your planet for an alien invasion, which includes building new space stations and ships. All three are slated to launch sometime this year for PC through Steam.
Fallen Aces is one of the more intriguing titles shown here. Stylized completely in a comic-noir art décor, Fallen Aces is an FPS title that has you attempting to solve a crime while taking down gangsters with your hands and some old-school weapons. Fallen Aces has no release date and will launch for PC through Steam.
Larcenauts is a VR only title that has you team up in a 6 vs 6 team oriented multiplier format. You’ll have the choice of eight different specialist to choose from, each with their own unique ability and traits. Mode include the domination-style Refuel, the capture-the-flag Uplink, and the standard Deathmatch. Larcenauts will launch this Summer for PC through Steam VR and the Oculus.
One of the best online arcade games from two generations ago is back and in high definition! Toy Soldiers is a full HD remake made for modern systems where you take control of WWI style figures and move them across the battlefield in order to destroy the enemy. The classic has been completely overhauled with new skins, new content, and all of the original DLC to boot. Toy Soldiers HD will launch this Summer for PC through Steam, the PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
Moo Lander has you play as a UFO in a 2D bullet shooter where you fly around in search for the source of milk. In addition to this, you’ll have to contend with the mighty cows, enemies that will prevent you from completing your quest. You’ll be able to upgrade your ship with new abilities and change the play style along the way. As if this wasn’t enough, there’s also multiplayer where you can play as the cows themselves and take out the UFO ship. Moo Lander will launch in Summer 2022 for PC through Steam, the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
B.A.R.K. or Bio-Interstellar Ark, is another 2D bullet shooter game, only this time you control some very cute animated animals. Each animal has their own unique gameplay and back story as you use them to defend the Sola System from an invading force. B.A.R.K. will launch sometime this year for PC through Steam and the Nintendo Switch.
Tunguska: The Visitation is a top down style game that takes place in a post-apocalyptical world with RPG survival elements. You’ll take on the role of a Ghoul Hunter from the old Soviet Russia and search through abandoned villages, towns, and swamp areas for any means of surviving. The game will also be full of dialogue with NPC’s to further the story. Tunguska: The Visitation is available now on PC through Steam.
Another game with a cute animation, Neko Ghost, Jump! is a dual platformer with the ability to switch from 2D to 3D on the fly. You play as, you guessed it, a cat that jumps around collecting items. There will be more than 100 customization options, 40 different levels, and boss fights in each different bio dome. Neko Ghost, Jump! will launch for PC through Steam and the Epic Game Store.
Lastly, we got another glimpse of ExtraGalacitca which is currently on Early Access through Steam. The title is about a football player and their cat Nova as they venture on an adventure through space to save their championship trophy. The game has a pixelated 3D style which looks amazing considering how much is on the screen at the same time, especially in the spaceship battles. ExtraGalacitca has no release date, but you can check it out in Early Access on PC through Steam today.
