E3 2019: Sayonara Wild Hearts Is A Pop Album Disguised As A Video Game

Annapurna Interactive the publisher for games such as What Remains of Edith Finch and Ashen invited us to their station at E3 this year in order to check out their colorful pop music video game Sayonara Wild Hearts. We got to get a short hands on with a few levels of the game and it was very fast paced.

You play as a young woman who traverses though brightly I lit futuristic cities, forests and other outerworldy and dangerous terrain as her other self. Along the way she will be fighting, dancing, flying, and making allies throughout her adventure. The game’s official description reads ”Sayonara Wild Hearts is a euphoric music video dream about being awesome, riding motorcycles, skateboarding, dance battling, shooting lasers, wielding swords, and breaking hearts at 200 mph.”

Through every traversal and encounter during the euphoric and visually appealing levels you will be able to hear customs written pop songs for each stage. The game can be a bit challenging at certain times during the fights but part of what makes the title interesting is that players aren’t meant to breeze though the game. Even though it may play at a fast pace you will still need to watch where you take your character on the screen while everything seems to be coming at you at once from everyone direction possible. Other features in the game include:

• Custom-written vocal pop soundtrack
• A pop culture mash of electric pop, dance, fashion, anime, arcade games and subcultures
• An inclusive cast of stylish characters based on tarot cards
• Sensory overloading arcade game action
• Constant surprise and delight as every stage introduces new elements
• Challenging and intense, yet pure and inviting gameplay
• Buttery smooth gameplay: 1080/60 fps docked, 720p/60fps handheld on Nintendo Switch
• Straight to the action: virtually no loading times

Sayonara Wild Hearts is slated to release for the Nintendo Switch and other platforms later this year.
