At E3 2019, I was able to go hands-on with the upcoming Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled. In addition to the demo, Beenox also announced their plans for the game after launch. Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled is a remaster of the original game with added content from Nitro Kart, the sequel to Crash Team Racing. Similar to Crash Bandicoot N Sane Trilogy, the developers at Beenox wanted to give the game a fresh, new look while maintaining what made the original so much fun.
I believe that they have succeeded. The first thing you notice besides the old school soundtrack is the updated visuals to the game. Everything looks beautiful, and each character has their own unique personality. You are also able to make each character your own with customization options for the characters and the karts using stickers, skins, decals, wheels, and paint. The gameplay is just as fun as you may remember. You can get different power-ups to hinder your opponents and skid across the tracks to maintain your speed towards the finish line.
The biggest thing that was revealed during my time with the game is how Beenox plans to support the game after launch. The Grand Prix will introduce themed seasonal content and challenges available at no additional cost. Each Grand Prix will have a new track for the game as well as new racers that you can choose from. Each character will have a Legendary skin that you can earn. The Legendary skin comes with its own unique podium animations. The first Grand Prix track is Twilight Tour which is inspired by Crash Bandicoot Warp levels.
Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled releases on June 21, 2019, for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch. Beenox also announced that Spyro Reignited Trilogy will be releasing on the Nintendo Switch and PC on September 3.
