Got to take a look at E3 and see Sony Online Entertainment’s post-apocalyptic MMO zombie survival game H1Z1, which was being demoed at the Razer booth on their gaming laptops. Our own, Kerwin Tsang, got to interview with Steve George who is the Producer of H1Z1. H1Z1 will be coming to Steam Early Access soon, but they are thinking about later down the road being able to be on PlayStation 4.
In H1Z1, you enter into a world where the H1Z1 virus has broke out, and you are in a world filled with not only survivors but zombies as well. The game is focused on the zombie aspect, which the zombies have an interesting AI that they follow, that allows them to scavenge for food themselves. Food to them may be humans or animals, and if they are full they would be less likely to want to come after you. The game offers a total sandbox experience that is huge and open world, and in the demo, the zombies were scattered all around very sparsely, which made dealing with them no problem at all.
During the demo, which was a vertical slice of the game, you the player would need to discover materials in order to craft buildings and fortify your base. Some of the computers at the booth had given some players an M-16 with 10,000 rounds of ammo to test out the shooting mechanics, which allows you to definitely take the zombies off you fairly easy, from a distance.
When it comes to vehicles, the off road vehicle was a jeep, which has 4 seats, which allows for multiple people to ride with you. Steve George does mention that when the game is finished, H1Z1 will allow players to build larger vehicles.
