Dying Light: The Beast Revealed With New Trailer

As a part of the Gamescom Opening Night festivities, Techland has released a new announcement trailer for Dying Light: The Beast, a standalone game set in the Dying Light universe. The game will see the return of protagonist Kyle Crane in a new setting, and is confirmed to feature four-player co-op. The announcement trailer can be seen below:

The trailer is begins with a cinematic of a squad dressed in tactical gear exploring an abandoned building. Inside, they discover a group of recently murdered soldiers just before the squad is attacked by an unknown enemy. The trailer then cuts to a battle-scarred Kyle Crane overlooking a new location, before playing a montage of new gameplay footage for the game.

Dying Light: The Beast is now available to view on Steam, providing new screenshots and information for the upcoming zombie game. Techland has confirmed the return of series staples like parkour, four-player co-op, and open-world exploration. Additionally, the game is set to introduce 4×4 vehicles and tne ability to “unleash a beast-like power”. The game’s story follows Kyle Crane, the lead character in the first Dying Light, as he breaks free from captivity after “years of brutal experiments”. Once again, more is at stake than just his own path to revenge, surely adding extra stakes for players exploring the new setting of Castor Woods.

There is currently no release date listed for the game, but it is confirmed for release on PC, as well as PlayStation and Xbox (on both their current-gen and last-gen consoles) at a price of $39.99. It appears at this time that this will not be a full-sized game like previous entries in the Dying Light series, but rather a smaller experience in line with titles like Uncharted: The Lost Legacy or Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. It has been confirmed, however, that anybody who owns Dying Light 2: Stay Human Ultimate Edition will be able to download The Beast at no additional cost. The game is available to wishlist now, with more information provided on the game’s Steam page.
