A remarkable feature of the Dying Light franchise is how resilient the developers have made the game through constant updates. Released at the start of 2015, the original Dying Light has been receiving updates since before many popular game series have existed. This philosophy of keeping the games fresh has translated to the newer games as well. The latest entry, Dying Light: The Beast, is set to receive a massive new way to play as shown off in a franchise update by the team.
One week ago, fans got their first look at the details of the 1.5 update for Dying Light: The Beast on the official website. The largest feature is the expansive new Nightmare Mode, the hardest difficulty the game can be played at. In the new mode, players will be faced with smarter enemies that are both stronger and more aggressive while relying on fewer resources. These fewer resources will directly affect all aspects of the game as players are forced to consider their hunger. On top of all the other factors working against the player, they will also need to contend with the Alpha Volatile, capable of tracking the player and ignoring UV light.
In addition to the new difficulty, the franchise update also promised new rewards and finishers included in the update. Version 1.5 will also feature small graphical improvements and bug fixes. The first two games in the series will also be receiving new content themed with the season, letting players unlock new outfits and equipment.
Updating its old games while releasing content for the newest is one of the reasons why there are so many fans of the Dying Light series. The Nightmare Mode available for Dying Light: The Beast will offer challenges unlike anything seen before with the hunger system and Alpha Volatile. If history is any indication, it won’t be the end of updates to these beloved games.
