Drop Zone Mode is Returning to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

Gamers who played Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 will recognize Drop Zone mode as one of the most chaotic game modes in the Call of Duty franchise. This week’s playlist update will go live within the next week across PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Drop Zone will be included in the update along with other new features.

The classic game mode is a team-based challenge where points are earned by staying in the designated drop zone. Teams win by being the first to hit the goal point total or by having the most points at the end of the allotted time limit. The twist that makes Drop Zone a fan favorite is that killstreaks fall from the sky as your team holds the objective area. These killstreaks can only be acquired in the drop zone, thus attracting players to one area. This leads to the fast-paced turbulent gameplay Drop Zone is known for.

Also included in the upcoming update are new maps and a Warzone variant called Scopes and Scatter Guns, available for Trios. The mode restricts weapons to certain classes, meaning players can only use, say, shotguns or snipers, to find new ways to win. On top of that, players will be able to earn double XP and Weapon XP this upcoming weekend. The event begins on April 17th at 1 pm and finishes on April 20th at the same time. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 3 is full speed ahead with all of this and more, as new content and updates will be released periodically.

Of course, with new releases comes an influx of cheaters and hackers, which Infinity Ward vows to crack down on. If you’re not one these people and want more information on Drop Zone and how to play (legitimately), click here for Activision’s tips and tricks to survive the game mode.
