DreamHack Spain Winter Festival Relocated to Madrid

DreamHack is the world’s largest digital lifestyle festival, having hosted events in Dallas, Atlanta, Montreal, and more. Their Spanish branch has announced that it is moving the winter festival from Sevilla to Madrid. The event will take place from December 10th to December 13th at IFEMA’s Feria de Madrid.

The move is meant to help the event grow on an international stage by furthering the progress they’ve already made in the space. CEO of Encom Games, Aturo Castello, commented on the change, saying “…Our winter DreamHack festival had already earned a slot in the international scene but we are sure that this step will allow us to grow even more…” The city of Sevilla has been a great home for the festival, packing the FIBES venue for the last two years. Castello was sure to acknowledge the support of the city, saying “…We do not forget Sevilla. We want to thank the wonderful city of Sevilla and all its visitors, their hospitality during these two years of the festival.” They do not plan to host any more events in Sevilla for the foreseeable future, though Castello does not rule it in the future.

The upcoming DreamHack event will have a lot to offer attendees in the new arena. A bring-your-own-console LAN party will be hosted, along with many competitions and raffles t0 participate in. There will be plenty of merchandise stores for gamers to browse, as well as educational areas to learn about programs and career opportunities in esports, gaming, and live music. DreamHack Open Madrid will host a CS: GO tournament with a $100,000 prize pool. The last leg of the Hearthstone Masters Tour will finish up at the event with the winner taking home $250,000.

The city of Seville will miss the DreamHack events, but the move to Madrid is better for the overall international stage. With more eyes of the product, this will attract more attention to the market, and maybe even bring new events to Seville. For more information on DreamHack, visit their website.
