Square Enix’s DRAGON QUEST franchise made its U.S. debut in 1989, and since then has released 11 main series titles. The most recent mainline title was DRAGON QUEST XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age in 2017. DRAGON QUEST XI was one of the first Switch games to be announced, and the franchise also includes spin off games, novels, manga, and animation. DRAGON QUEST Smash/Grow is the franchise’s sixth mobile game.

The upcoming mobile entry to the franchise, DRAGON QUEST Smash/Grow, will be a roguelite RPG for iOS and Android devices. Players will smash their way through monsters, dealing the signature DRAGON QUEST Coup de Grâce attacks to finish them off. They will also be able to grow by choosing Blessings skills, allowing them to execute different strategies in battle and overcome challenges. Every run will be different for players, offering a new experience each time.

Prior to its release, DRAGON QUEST Smash/Grow will be running a closed beta test from Tuesday, October 14, 2025 (UTC) to Tuesday, October 21, 2025 (UTC). Players who wish to apply for the closed beta test can do so now at the closed beta test application. Those who will want to test on iOS can pre-register via TestFlight and for those on Android, you can pre-register via Google Play until Thursday, October 2, 2025 (UTC).

Alongside the announcement of the game and closed beta test, the DRAGON QUEST Smash/Grow X (formerly known as Twitter) account and Facebook pages will be running a giveaway from September 19, 2025 (UTC) to September 26, 2025 (UTC). DRAGON QUEST has enchanted players since 1986. With the announcement of DRAGON QUEST Smash/Grow as well as DRAGON QUEST VII Reimagined, 2026 is set to be an exciting year for fans of the franchise!
