Bandai Namco’s Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 released all the way back in October 2016, but that doesn’t mean the game’s lifespan is over. On the contrary, back in May, it celebrated six million total units sold across all platforms, a milestone Bandai Namco promised to commemorate with a new character and some new cosmetics.
While diehard fans of the Xenoverse series have been waiting for any news on a possible 3rd title, the reveal of a PlayStation 5 release of 2 somewhat shuts down that hope for now. It’s no surprise the series has managed to retain so much popularity in the first place – Xenoverse plays like a Dragon Ball fan’s biggest dream. Creating your own custom Dragon Ball character and decking them out with destructive skills and abilities is definitely the highlight of the Xenoverse games, and doing that with the game’s detailed character creation and combat system is extremely satisfying.
In a trailer released yesterday, they went more in-depth on what the update would bring, including a sneak peek at the new character – Chronoa. Known in Xenoverse 2 as “Supreme Kai of Time”, Chronoa is a major character in the game and assists the player in near everything they do. This update is the first new content Xenoverse 2 has gotten since August 2018, and Bandai Namco’s dedication to their fanbase on a title that’s already 4 years old is truly wonderful to see.
On top of Chronoa as a fully playable character with her own set of unique skills and attacks, the free update will also bring a new world tournament mission, as well as mascots – cute little characters that follow you around. Existing content will also receive new quality-of-life changes, like partner customization and an online battle tour system where players can party up and each choose the quests they want to play through.
The update releases August 26 across all platforms – PlayStation 4, Steam, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Whether you already own the game or are a new player looking to try it out, now is a great time to jump into the world of Xenoverse.
