After ten years, the Dragon Age series is set to return with The Veilguard. Prior to the official reveal at Xbox Games Showcase, BioWare revealed the new official name and talked about why they renamed it to better represent what makes the game special. BioWare said, “it’s about you and your companions – not your enemies – that are at the heart of this new experience.” Today, the developers have released the first look at gameplay with a 15+ minute video showing a first look at the opening moments of the game.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard is a crafted character-driven RPG where players will visit meticulously crafted biomes and beautiful regions including Rivian, Weisshaupt, Arlathan, Minrathous, and the Deep Roads.
Players will take on the role of the Rook and fight to stop Solas from unleashing the Veil onto the world of Theadas. Players will choose Rook’s class, lineage, gender, overall appearance, and more. Different narrative, dialogue, and gameplay interactions will happen depending on which faction is chosen. Players can choose between three classes for the Rook – Warrior, Mage, or Rogue. Each will have their own advanced specializations. The game will also have a layer pf tactical depth for those who want to dig in.
The new customizable Ability Wheel – seen here in the early moments of the game – will allow you to control your companions’ attacks and unleash powerful abilities.
