Thank You Bus Driver by Double Fine Productions and Double Fine Action Labs, was just announced through an Announcement Trailer. The game will be out on Steam, Humble Store, itch.io and gog.com according to the trailer, so those interested can check out their preferred site for the upcoming game.
Players observe the first person p.o.v of a Bus Driver when the trailer starts, making it clear the Bus driver is the player. The bus itself is simple, it has a rear view mirror, a speaker, a map, a timer, a “thank-o-meter,” a next direction plaque and not much else, it also doesn’t have side mirrors, setting the stage for what kind of driving the game’s into. Hands are on a steering wheel, and through creative driving choices, the Bus driver parks and lets on cartoonishly doodled people who pay as they get on, before driving off. He gets a rule update command from someone on the speaker, and he dives to check the map, which has the way and bus rules inscribed on it. In the process, the bus driver avoids looking at the road and ends up hitting a car, struggles to get back in control, before the bus driver turns back in the bus and hits one of the passengers with his arm, while also not looking at the road. Due to this, the driver causes another car to crash, before picking up passengers.
The bus driver continues crashing into things, such as street items, dustbins and more. The driver can be gifted items for “acceleration” and the game includes night drives as well which might be more dangerous than its day counterpart. The bus driver is shown to be able to toss someone off the bus, the passengers deal with more abuse, there are multiple locations awaiting the bus, and plenty more accidents available. The passengers are able to complain and they do so with loud cursing that the driver tries to curtail unsuccessfully. Thank You Bus Driver, does not have a release date, but it seems like just the game for driving and comedy aficionados.
