Arc System Works has just unveiled a brand new trailer for their upcoming title Double Dragon Collection. As the name suggests, it is a collected group of Double Dragon titles, which includes six entries in the fabled series and it will be coming to the Switch, . This also has the long-lost Super Double Dragon, which hasn’t seen an official re-release since it launched well over 30 years ago, as well as Double Dragon Advance, which was almost lost to time as well with more than 20 years since it’s initial release. The other entries in the collection are Double Dragon, Double Dragon II: The Revenge, Double Dragon III: The Sacred Stones, and Double Dragon IV which came out in 2017.

The trailer, albeit very brief, highlights each title with some snippets of gameplay that is backtracked by various music from the series. The trailer is filled to the brim with 8-bit goodness, harking back to the glorious early days of the Nintendo Entertainment System. The first three entries are from the aforementioned era, launching in 1987, 1988, and 1990 respectively. The next generation entry, Super Double Dragon came out on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1992. Double Dragon Advance released on the Game Boy Advance handheld and was essentially a remake of the first title, while 2017’s Double Dragon IV launched for several platforms after the IP was acquired by Arc System Works.
Interestingly enough, the collection is slated to have a physical release for the Nintendo Switch, but in the Asian region only. This could be for a number of reasons, but as of this writing, Arc System Works has not provided any specific explanation as to why they’ve gone this route with the launch. Either way, the collection is still set to release digitally for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/Series S, and PC on November 9, 2023.
