Just hours into the morning after Chritmas, Arc System Works chose to release a trailer that not only showed what the game would look like, but that Double Dragon 4 actually existed.
Most noticeable when taking a look at the trailer is the fact that they stayed true to the retro style mechanics of the series. The combat reminds me of the old arcade style games you’d find at your local liquor store or Dave and Busters. The trailer begins by showing footage from the previous installment of the game before fading out around the 1:06 mark reading “The legend goes on”.
Then for the remainder of the trailer we are shown two players fighting enemies from what I assume to be the gameplay for Double Dragon 4. In the description of the trailer, it is revealed that Double Dragon 4’s “story picks up after the elimination of the Shadow Warriors in Double Dragon II”.
According to their website, the game will be released on January 3oth on Playstation 4 and Steam. The game will cost 800 yen, or around $8 American, for the downloadable version. If you head over to their website after reading this you won’t get much information. There are currently non clickable tabs at the top, which suggests they will begin opening them up to the public as more information becomes available.
The only other information given was the rating by the ESRB(T) and Pegi(12).
