Today, Bethesda released a trailer for a free update as well as the first of three DLC updates for the iconic reboot Doom. The purchased update, Unto the Evil, features three new multiplayer maps, a new playable demon, a new weapon, and other fun stuff to do some serious damage. The free update will feature two new multiplayer maps, a playable demon, and some bug fixes.
The first map, Ritual, takes place at a Martian polar core. Players must activate an artifact when an enemy is nearby, engulfing them in “hellfire”. The second map, Cataclysm, is an off world space station with a direct line to hell. Lastly, Offering, is an ancient temple fortress featuring ancient hell environments, lava pools, and deadly voids.
Harvester, the new playable demon, “consumes souls using lightning energy before unleashing a devastating ranged attack.” The new UAC EMG pistol is a fast firing weapon with the option of a secondary charged powerful energy shot that deals extra damage. An additional Kinetic mine is a proximity mine that can be deployed doing area effect damage on impact. Even if players wish to set their character up with Robotic armor, they will now have the ability to do so with the addition of Robotic themed armor. This paid update will become available on August 5th for those with the season pass which runs at $39.99.
The free update will feature two new multiplayer maps. The first is called Exodus, a one-flag CTF game mode. The second being an objective based capture and hold mode called Sector. The free update will also feature a new customizable weapon wheel, addition of Mancubus(playable demon), and many other improvements to the game overall.
