Just recently, developer id Software and publisher Bethesda Softworks have released the second trailer for Doom: The Dark Ages. The first official trailer was originally released ten months ago, announcing the 2025 launch date. In the newest trailer, they announced that the game will launch on May 15th of this year. Players will be able to play Doom: The Dark Ages on PC through Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S. Players are also able to pe-purchase the game now.

Those who pre-purchase the game will get up to 2-days advanced access and the Void Slayer Skin, and those who purchase the premium edition of the game will gain some rewards such as the Divinity Skin Pack, up to 2-days early access, future campaign DLC, and a Digital Artbook and Soundtrack.

The trailer shows in-game footage players can expect to see next month when the game launches. The trailer tells the story and the objective of the game as well as the gameplay, combating against different creatures and bosses with different weapons. Doom: The Dark Ages is a prequel to Doom: Eternal that was released in 2016 that tells the story of the Doom Slayer’s rage. Players will be playing as the Doom Slayer, who is bound to serve as the super weapons of gods and kings, and will witness the medieval war against Hell.

Doom: The Dark Ages tells the story of the Doom Slayer who fends off demon hoarders as their leaders seek to destroy the Slayer to become the only one who is feared, and it is up to the Player to join in on the battle in Hell and turn the tide of the war- all according to the Steam description page.

Players will be able to access returning weapons for use in combat such as the Super Shotgun, and also gain new weapons such as the Shield Saw. According to Steam, “Players will stand and fight on the demon-infested battlefields in the vicious, grounded combat the original DOOM is famous for.” There will also be new realms, mysteries, challenges, and rewards in each of the new realms. Some of the new realms consist of battlefields, forests, and ancient hellscapes.
