Xbox has announced its first major event for the year with the return of Developer_Direct. The next Direct will return in a few weeks on January 23, 2025, and will focus on DOOM: The Dark Ages, South of Midnight, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and the announcement of a studio’s brand new game. The Developer_Direct will take place at 10 am PT/1 pm ET/ 6 pm UK.

DOOM: The Dark Ages is the prequel to DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal that tells the epic, cinematic origin story of the Doom Slayer’s rage. The game was inititally announced during the last Xbox Games Showcase and the Direct will showcase the full game as players step into the blood-stained boots of the Doom Slayer in the never-before-seen dark and sinister medieval war against hell.

South of Midnight stars Hazel as she explores the mythos of the American Deep South and confronts mysterious creatures inspired by Southern Folklore to unravel her family’s hidden past in this dark, modern folktale.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a new, upcoming RPG coming from Sandfall Interactive. During the Direct, the team behind the game will go behind-the-scenes to talk about the development of the game, sharing more information about the game’s creation and how they plan to deliver an incredible story in a gorgeous fantasy world.

Regarding the last, unannounced title, Aaron Greenberg, Xbox Marketing VP teased that the new game will be a surprise.
