At QuakeCon 2024, Bethesda announced several new things in the DOOM franchise as well as updates for some of its current titles. DOOM Eternal is now available to get on Epic Games Store. Bethesda is partnering with Limited Run Games for a special physical edition of DOOM on the Super Nintendo. A DOOM Anthology was announced. DOOM + DOOM II is coming to modern platforms as one single package with new content and added enhancements.
DOOM + DOOM II is now available for Steam, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. Owners of either or both game is eligible for a free upgrade to the new combined version.
Players will get both the original and re-release versions of the game. The new version includes online cross-platform deathmatch and co-op for up to 16 players, community-published single-player mod support with an in-game mod browser, an optimized renderer, accessibility options, improved performance with multithreaded rendering supporting up to 4K resolution and 120 fps on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation 5, and a brand new episode, “Legacy of Rust,” with new weapons and demons made in collaboration by individuals from id Software, Nightdive Studios, and MachineGames.
There is also an optional IDKFA soundtrack by Andrew Hulshult which is selectable alongside the original midi soundtracks – including the never-before-released IDKFA version of DOOM II.
The DOOM Anthology is a new release that includes DOOM (1993), DOOM II, DOOM 64, DOOM 3, DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal Deluxe Edition. Players who get the physical edition will get an exclusive SteelBook case and a 5-inch LED light-up replica BFG with a stand. DOOM Anthology releases October 22, 2024, for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
The Limited Run Games physical edition features a Standard Edition and a Collector’s Edition. It comes with the 16-bit classic on an SNES cartridge and other goodies.
id Software has announced the release of idStudio Beta which features the official idTech engine suite and grants modders the tools to create their own mods for DOOM Eternal. Players can opt-in to the PC mod preview which is now available for Steam and Microsoft Store. Players can easily browse and play mods uploaded by the community via the DOOM Eternal mod portal.
Bards College is an expansive new Skyrim Special Edition Creation from Kinggath Creations. An all-new major questline, new Shouts, and new Bard-themed minigames can be found in the game now.
Players can log into Elder Scrolls Online and earn up to three fiery pets as part of the Anniversary Spotlight series, as well as earn more rewards and join in-game player events.
Bethesda also showed a new look at the latest Fallout 76 update which brings Caravans, Legendary Crafting, and a way to see the best C.A.M.P.s with Best Builds.
Players who log into Quake Champions until August 12 to receive the QuakeCon 2024 Tri-bolt weapon skin and check out the newly released Cursed Soul eight-player map.
