Silent Lamb Studio, the developers behind Sirens, announced earlier this morning that they have launched a campaign on Gamefound. This grants fans of the long anticipated mermaid exploration game to support the developers in polishing the game before the release of it’s demo and Early Access version.

For those who are unfamiliar with the game, it is a singleplayer adventure that allows players to explore the ocean as mermaids. Silent Lamb Studio took inspiration from the theory that human evolution diverged between those who left the ocean and those who remained in the water. Players embody those that stayed in the water, continuing to evolve and show more marine based characteristics.

Sirens is meant to be an underwater exploration and narrative-driven game. The developers want players to exist in a world where they feel part of the ocean. Their environment will react to their actions, allowing players to shape their experience, but the game is not entirely meant to be a peaceful experience.

There will be moments of underwater combat where players must defend themselves against larger sea creatures. The developers have stated the switch between peaceful moments to raw violence is a core element to the gameplay. Players will also experience the game from the difference stages of mermaid evolution. This means that potential enemies will range from creatures within the prehistoric to current eras.

On September 5th, Silent Lamb Studios posted a rewards trailer for their Gamefound campaign, featuring what exclusive rewards players who support them can obtain, such as access to the game’s demo. Along with access to the demo, supporters will have a chance to write their own letter in a bottle and become part of the Sirens world as a statue to be explored. Supporters will also be given the chance to let their creativity shine as they design islands, ruins, and sea creatures.
