Dishonored 2 Sequel, Death of the Outsider, Has Been Released

Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, action-adventure stealth game and direct sequel to Dishonored 2, has just launched from Dishonored series developer Arkane Studios. Rather than release story expansion DLC in the months following Dishonored 2‘s publication in November of 2016, Arkane Studios and publisher Bethesda have opted to instead create a smaller-scale but separate game in the form of Death of the Outsider. The newest chapter in the Dishonored universe landed on September 15th, and Arkane preceded the game’s release with an informational post to Bethesda’s news blog and a launch trailer, which you can watch below:

The video was accompanied by Arkane’s synopsis for the game, which takes place roughly two months after the end of Dishonored 2 and follows series veteran and fan-favorite character Billie Lurk as Death of the Outsider‘s protagonist.

In her effort to rid the world of the Outsider – the mysterious godlike figure looming over the Dishonored games – Billie has some of the coolest powers, weapons and gadgets we’ve ever designed. And the missions she embarks upon will take you deep into Karnaca, hunting for Billie’s old mentor, the underworld legend Daud, then beyond Karnaca to the blackest reaches of the Void.

Arkane also gave prospective players a glimpse of what gameplay will be like, describing Billie’s abilities – which, unlike previous protagonists Emily and Corvo, will not be derived from a mark of the Outsider. Instead, Billie’s powers come from artifacts of the Void. On a separate blog post, Bethesda listed a few key abilities that players can take advantage of. You can check out the powers and other in-game gadgets in the introductory gameplay video below:

Dishonored: Death of the Outsider is available now for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

Glenn Carreau: Hi! I'm Glenn: recent college grad specializing in interactive arts and media, writer, game creator and connoisseur, pop culture junkie, and semi-professional fan-artist and blogger. In my free time, I function as an unnecessarily specific gaming encyclopedia. I also play the violin, binge crime/detective procedural shows (still not sure why), and do a large amount of digital painting. I'm probably too attached to Dragon Age, but not really inclined to do anything about it. I'm a huge fan of cosplay, foxes, the prose of Jenny Lawson, and Strong Female Characters™.
