Compared to a beautiful combination of a well made Assasin’s Creed and an even more dystopian Bioshock, stealth, fantasy role-playing game Dishonored came out back in 2012 for all platforms (PS3, Ps4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC–everything except the Wii) to all around positive reviews.
Players were treated to the first-person perspective of palace guard, Corvo Attano, the bodyguard to Dunwall’s Empress Jessamine Kaldwin, who is early on framed for her murder/assassination at the hands of various villainous plots. Taking a silent vow to right the wrong committed (the main character has a distinct lack of voice acting throughout the game) as well as promising to save the child princess (a daughter-like figure) Emily Kaldwin and restore her to the throne. Along the way, Corvo develops a unique set of skills and meets many friends (as well as many wolves in sheep’s’ clothing). And, much like popular indie game Undertale, players have two compelling options: they can either eliminate everyone they come across, or avoid all killing at all costs and end the game without a single kill. Kills made the game progressively harder, while not killing (while more difficult in the short term) made the overall arch of the game easier (ie: no random, wandering hoard of ravenous rats to randomly devour you!).
A rumored sequel for the popular game has been spinning around in the mill for an extended amount of time, with official announcement occurring at last year’s E3 in 2015. Finally, Bethesda (heard of Skyrim?) made the announcement that the official Dishonored sequel will be released for Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC starting November 11, 2016. The highly anticipated next installment will allow you to choose between Corvo or Emily, and we can expect to see more at this year’s E3 in June of 2016.
Dishonored 2 will be out this coming November with more word at this year’s E3 in June! More word extremely soon!
