Although we knew about Dishonored 2 before, at Bethesda’s conference at E3 we got an official gameplay trailer for the highly anticipated stealth-action game sequel. We also know that the game will be released for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on November 11th, 2016.
The first impression you get of the game is that it looks beautiful. Dishonered 2 continues the first game’s sort of eerie, industrial setting, but this time the lighting effects and improved textures definitely add to the unsettling atmosphere.
The trailer shows new ways that you can stab people in the throat, including being able to manipulate shadow creatures. These creatures can be used to sneak up on enemies, or to grapple them towards you to finish them off at close-range. Dishonored 2’s director Harvey Smith stated that there are many ways to combine different powers, which can lead to very creative and devastating kills.
The trailer also showed the ability to slow down time, which was used to spray a barrage of bullets at an enemy.
We also got a look at a new robot enemy, something we didn’t see in the first game. Even though robots don’t have a neck, that doesn’t mean you still can’t stab them.
Dishonored 2 looks like it will give the player a lot of choices in the game. The player can choose to play as Empress Emily Kaldwin or the Royal Protector Corvo Attano. According to the trailer’s Youtube description “Will you stalk your way through the game unseen, make full use of the brutal combat system, or use a blend of both?” It also says that the choices you make in the game will affect the outcome of the story, which could be very interesting if done well. Overall, Dishonored 2 looks to expand on everything that made the first game such a surprise hit.
