The highly anticipated Marvel’s Wolverine game being made by Insomniac and Sony has a new duo heading the project. As reported by Game File and confirmed by a Sony Rep, the companies have officially named Marcus Smith as creative director and Mike Daly will serve as the new game director. It is also worth noting that former game director, Cameron Christian, will remain working with the studio, but in a different, and unnamed role.
Both Smith and Daly have worked together in their respective roles for the overall, positively received Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. The game was given a score of 88 on Metacritic and a User rating of 8.6. The game was a first for the franchise in 5 years and as of 2023, saw the sale of nearly 4 million copies and around $145 million in revenue.
The Marvel’s Wolverine team lost their original creative director, Brian Horton, since this summer according to Game File, yet he seems to have already managed to lock down another high-profile job. As the former creative director of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Horton has a proven track record in this role and Xbox has now acquired his talents to be their creative director for the new, highly anticipated Perfect Dark reboot, said to be releasing in 2026. A rep from Xbox has stated that Horton will “bring his wealth of experience to the upcoming reboot of the classic secret agent series.”
Perfect Dark was released May of 2000 and is a first person shooter and was released on the Nintendo 64. The game acted as a spiritual successor to the renowned and beloved Goldeneye 007, which released in 1997 from developer Rare. The game was praised overall by critics and players alike eventually finding itself in Nintendo’s “Player’s Choice” category as well as receiving the BAFTA Interactive Entertainment Moving Images Award for 2000 and the Golden Satellite Award for Best Interactive Product in 2001.
