The newest Runescape update, Land Out of Time, has been officially released and brings a bunch of new changes to the game including new colossal dinosaur foes. To mark the event, a new trailer has also been released and gives just a glimpse of the brand new area, called Anachronia, as well as some of the dinos that players can encounter on the island. According to the post, this members-only area is accessible via a boat near the Digsite, or through the lodestone network. Players are encouraged to complete the quest Desperate Times, or simply catch up on the story before their journey to Anachronia.
With the addition of the new island and dinosaurs to fight comes new Hunter and Slayer training methods for levels 75-96 and 55-76, respectively. Since the new dino-foes are “sizeable and quite grumpy,” players will have to collect resources and set traps in order to bring them down. “The intention of the developers was to look at some of the more varied mechanics you’d normally see in boss fights and introduce them into non-boss encounters.”
The introduction of new Hunter beasts also marks the revamp of the Hunter skill itself, so make sure to check out the patch notes for details. Each dinosaur will grant loads of XP as well as provide quality drops; skinning your kills will also yield quality crafting materials. The Slayer skill also gets a boost as well, with the update adding eight new Slayer creatures, ranging from level 90-114, and a new Slayer Master, Laniakea. Laniakea and the new Slayer tasks are aimed at higher level players, so a Slayer level of 90 and Combat level of 120 are required to access her.
In order to traverse the island easily, the developers have introduced an Agility course surrounding the entire island. “Not only is this the quickest way of getting around and seeing the sites, but it’s also built for convenience. You can hop on and off at several point, and you can travel in either direction.” To start the Agility course, players only need an Agility level of 30 but will need to be level 85 to complete the course in its entirety. When players get tired of running around the island, they can sit back and relax in new buildable Base Camps, which work very similarly to player-owned ports and farms.
The Land Out of Time update, which is live now, brings much more to the game as well, so make sure to check out the full update notes before hopping on that boat to Anachronia.
