When it comes to gaming, there comes a point, and we ask how much we can push the medium, whether it be the graphics, gameplay, or premise. We are always expanding. Then we ask ourselves: can I play as a dinosaur, wield a giant sword, and fight other dinosaurs that also wield giant weapons? Honestly, that just might be me, but that’s besides the point, as Dinoblade, a “Dinosaur Dark Souls” game many have been asking for, has officially got its release date. It’s coming a lot sooner than you think, as it will release for PC on July 23, and now you too can wield a giant sword as a Spinosaurus, and if you can’t wait, there is a demo you can try right now on Steam.
I spent years turning a silly animation idea into a full game.
Now, you can literally play as a Spinosaurus parrying giant bosses with a colossal greatsword.

Indie games have truly become the lifeblood of gaming, continuing to push the medium in the right direction. And they aren’t afraid to take risks with the games, whether it’s through the premise, gameplay, or look. They make games they are passionate about and see them through to the end. And Dinoblade checks all three: a crazy premise, look, and gameplay. Dinoblade is a cocktail of insanity wrapped into a Souls-like game. Jean Nguyen is one of the developers of the game and recently posted on X about the game: “I spent years turning a silly animation idea into a full game. Now, you can literally play as a Spinosaurus parrying giant bosses with a colossal greatsword.” Indie games truly have no fear when it comes to development.
Dinoblade is a game that looks like a good time. Playing a young Spinosaurus wielding a giant sword, fighting and parrying other dinosaurs, sounds awesome. The game is a Souls-like, so it will be a bit more difficult than your average video game, so you will have to engage the mechanics a lot more, but from the looks of it, it’s going to be ridiculously fun. And if you’re on the fence about the game, there is a demo you can currently try right now on Steam. And the game will be released on July 23—a month from now, so you don’t have to wait too long to live out your dream.
