Recently, Bandai Namco stated that the game Digimon Survive, which was initially slated for a 2019 release date, has been delayed until 2020. The producer of the game, Kazumasu Habu recently took to Twitter to explain the reason for the delay. He stated that the reason for the delay was “Regarding Survive, the planned release date has been changed to 2020 because of a reorganization of our game development structure. Sorry to keep you waiting. Once again, I feel deeply the hardships of game development… We will continue to develop the game in order to make it a good product, so please look forward to it. “Very little is known about its exact release date. All that is known now is that it will be delayed until 2020.
For those who are unfamiliar with the game itself, Digimon Survive is an SRPG or Strategy RPG in which the player places their character, or in this case Digimon on a grid and then strategically moves them around a field in order to attack other players. This is very similar to the Fire Emblem Series style of gameplay, and is the first SRPG in the Digimon Game Series.
The game itself centers on the character Takuma Momozuka who gets lost with his friends on a school camping trip and ends up in a fantasy world described as “a strange new world of monsters and danger”. He leads his friends on a journey through this fantastical world full of strange digital creatures called Digimon and over the course of his journey, he will have to make certain decisions that affect the story of the game. If you make the wrong choice you can get a game over and will have to start again, so choose wisely. The game will also include several different paths, many Digivolutions, and many endings.
Digimon Survive is being developed by Witchcraft, with character designs by Uichi Ukumo, and the music by Tomoki Miyoshi. The game is set to be released on the PC, The Nintendo Switch, the Playstation 4, and the Xbox One.
