Today, Blizzard presented a showcase for the 30th Anniversary of the Diablo series. The update focused mainly on the addition of Warlocks throughout the series, along with providing a roadmap for some of their games before Blizzcon.
The first announcement made was the addition of the new Warlock class in the Reign of the Warlock update for Diablo II: Resurrected. As the eighth class added to Diablo II: Resurrected, it comes with many unique features, all centered around the central theme of binding and controlling demons. They have the power to summon the Goatman, the Tainted, and the Defiler. Each of them will come with unique skills for different situations. They will also be able to bind demons from the game, granting them bonuses from the Warlock. Once bound, Warlocks can consume their demons as well, taking in the demon’s powers into themselves. All of these features have led the presenters to call the class a puzzle to play.
The new update also adds Terrorzones, allowing players to terrorize different zones in the game to make them more challenging. New enemies, called Heralds of Terror, stalk players, becoming stronger each time they are faced. Defeating five will show the way to a new boss called the Colossal Ancients, designed to push players to their limits. A number of quality-of-life improvements have also been made, letting players track the items they have collected and earn achievements to show off. The update was announced to be available today, letting players jump right into the new class.
To coincide with this release, Diablo Immortal will also be adding a Warlock to the game, complete with her own motivations and moves. The team also discussed the upcoming big bad for the game and showed off the roadmap as the game leads up to Blizzcon.
The Warlock class for Diablo IV has mastered its abilities, added in with its opposite class, the Paladin in the Lord of Hatred update. The new campaign takes place in the game’s new region called Skovos, the birthplace of humanity. The endgame has also been improved with the addition of War Plans, allowing players to set their own activities. The skill trees of all classes have also been overhauled, creating more build options for players in addition to a talisman system that lets players collect charms. The announcement ends with a series of scenes and gameplay moments showcasing the new class, before teasing another big announcement coming at Blizzcon.
