Devolver Digital is at it again, teasing yet another potential title and the only way they know how, with total humor. The indie publishing giant tweeted out a very brief teaser video that concludes with the Serious Sam logo at the end, signifying that yet another entry in the fabled franchise is on the way. However, Devolver Digital took it a step further by teasing that not only will the game be announced as soon as next week, but it will also launch before the end of the month.
The teaser itself only shows an arctic background with several landmarks, most likely being the main setting for the game. It also has a narrator who states that they are looking forward to getting back into the action, despite the frigid conditions. It then ends with the aforementioned Serious Sam logo before fading to black. This teaser trailer, along with the major tease from Devovler Digital, has fans of the series chomping at the bit to see the game fully shown, as well as the supposed release date for this month.
It’s been a while since we’ve seen anything from the Serious Sam franchise, with the last entry being in 2020 with Serious Sam 4. The game had a mixed reception, despite being considered favorable by the fanbase, which most likely kept it alive within Devolver Digital. Then again, the indie publisher loves to take risks, and each time they seem to come out on top. Just this past November, the company officially went public on the London Stock Exchange with Sony purchasing minority stake in them. In other words, Devolver can just keep doing what they’re doing and it’ll be fine. As for Serious Sam, we’re waiting with anticipation for then the company to let the cat out of the bag, hopefully with the January drop intact.
