Devil May Cry 5 Will Have a Dynamic Soundtrack

Devil May Cry 5 Key Art

The announcement of Devil May Cry 5 during this year’s E3 was exhilarating, for there has not been a direct sequel to Devil May Cry 4 in 10 year. Now that the world knows that the original DMC universe will continue with this sequel, new information is slowly petering out. One of the first biggest pieces to come out is the fact that there will be a dynamic soundtrack created for the title.

One of the key features in the Devil May Cry series is the emphasis on being creative, varying, and flashy in your attack patterns. This is done because the main character, Dante, is a major showoff, and this blend of gameplay and character trait gives you a rating based on your style. So, as stated above, the more stylish your attacks are, the more that the game’s soundtrack will amp up to reward players.

In the interview with Michi Okabe, some specific things were stated in regards to this dynamic soundtrack:

And then, especially when we do actions in concert with music this time, [the music will get] more exciting. It is not a simple BGM. When you make a stylish action and it gets caught, A melody becomes B melody, [and] as the stylish rank goes up, you will be able to listen to choruses as well. There is a synergistic effect as to whether the background will be more exciting by such way of play […] It’s not that it works in accordance with BGM, but if you act coolly, BGM will be cool.

Devil May Cry 5 is currently expected to be released sometime in spring of 2019. You can watch the reveal trailer of DMC5 below:
