Development Team Reuniting to Make New Earthworm Jim Game

This year marks the 25th anniversary for Earthworm Jim, and to celebrate, Intellivision Entertainment announced today that a completely new Earthworm Jim game is in the works. The game will be exclusive to the Intellivison Amico system, set to release in October 2020.

Ten members of the original development team have reunited to work on the new game for the Amico system, including Doug TenNapel, David Perry, and Tommy Tallarico.

Tommy Tallarico is the current CEO and President of Intellivision Entertainment and the original sound designer for Earthworm Jim and Earthworm Jim 2. In the press release for the announcement, Tallarico shared his excitement for the new exclusive development project.

We have been talking about this moment for many years, it’s a dream come true to finally get the entire team back together. We’re looking forward to sharing a small part of our reunion and initial design meeting with fans from around the world.

Tallarico goes on to add: “Intellivision Amico is designed to bring friends and families together and we are excited for fans and those just being introduced to the series to get a first look as we kick-off the design of the game.”

In order to give fans and newcomers that first look, Tallarico and the rest of the team will be sharing their vision for the new Earthworm Jim game by live-streaming their first design meeting. The development team will be interacting with fans and be giving away 50 signed posters during the stream. The design meeting broadcast can be found here on Twitch and is scheduled to air Saturday, May 4th at 2PM Central time.

Earthworm Jim released in 1994 and is a beloved blast from the past platformer. It was voted Best Genesis Game in 1995 by Electronic Gaming Monthly. For any fans who cannot wait for the new game on the Amico, the first Earthworm Jim is included on the Sega Genesis Mini, which is set to release on September 19th.

Angel Tuohy: I'm a fan of a lot of different games in different genres, and my favorites are Dark Souls, Final Fantasy, Street Fighter, Tekken, Persona, Resident Evil, and NieR. I think games are a brilliant way to tell a story, but it's important to me that the game is fun to play too. I've recently received my Master's degree in Literature.
